Hand Wash & Decontamination, From $125

Premium Hand Car Wash in Flemington, NJ

A hand wash and decontamination that leaves the paint cleaner than a tunnel wash and does not add swirl marks doing it. No spinning bristles, no reused rags, no harsh chemicals. At your home or office, or at our Flemington studio.

Why It Matters

1

No Bristles, No Swirls

Automatic washes drag spinning brushes and reused cloth across your paint. The grit they are still carrying from the last car is what puts the fine scratches in your clear coat.

2

Full Decontamination

A wash removes what is loose. Decontamination removes what has bonded to the paint: industrial fallout, road film and embedded grit that a wash leaves behind.

3

Gentler Chemistry

Harsh, high-pH detergents strip wax and sealant and dull trim over time. We use products matched to the finish instead of whatever cleans fastest.

What It Costs

Three levels, all built on the same hand wash and decontamination. Prices are starting prices; size and condition set the final quote, and we confirm it before we start.

The standard service

Wash & Decontamination

From $125

Hand wash with clean media, then decontamination to pull off what has bonded to the paint. Leaves the paint clean and smooth to the touch.

Wash plus $75

Wash & Decon + Hand Wax

From $200

Everything above, finished with a hand-applied wax for gloss and a few months of protection against rain, salt and UV.

Wash plus $175

Wash & Decon + Polish

From $300+

Everything above with a machine polish that lifts gloss and evens out the finish. The step below full paint correction.

Past that point the job is paint correction, which starts at $150 and removes swirls and scratches rather than filling them. If you want the finish protected for years instead of months, that is ceramic coating, done at our Flemington studio.

How Automatic Car Washes Affect Your Paint

Look at a dark-coloured car in direct sunlight and you will see fine circular scratches all over the panels. Those are swirl marks, and most of them come from washing, not from driving. An automatic wash drags spinning bristles or cloth strips across your paint, and that material has already been over dozens of cars that day. The grit it picked up from them is what scratches your clear coat.

Hand washes at a conventional shop can be just as rough when the same rags and buckets go from one car to the next. Grit stays in the fibres. Every pass drags it along the paint.

The chemistry matters too. Tunnels rely on strong, high-pH detergents to clean quickly with little contact. They work, but they also strip wax and sealant, dry out rubber and trim, and leave the paint unprotected for the next round of rain and road salt.

How We Do It Instead

We wash by hand with clean media, so nothing that came off another car goes near yours. Products are matched to the finish rather than chosen for speed, so existing wax, sealant or ceramic coating survives the wash instead of being stripped by it.

Then comes decontamination, which is the step most washes skip. Rinsing takes off what is loose. It does not touch what has bonded to the paint: industrial fallout, brake dust, road film, tree sap residue. Decontamination removes that, which is why the paint feels smooth afterward rather than gritty, and why any wax, polish or coating applied later actually bonds.

Where This Fits

A wash keeps clean paint clean. It will not remove scratches that are already there: nothing short of polishing will. If your paint is in good condition, a regular proper wash with a wax on top is all it needs. If it has years of tunnel-wash damage in it, start with paint correction, then keep it that way with washes like this.

If your car is already ceramic coated, this is how it should be maintained. A coating makes washing easier, but it still has to be washed, and washing it with the same harsh chemicals and brushes shortens its life. Our ceramic coating aftercare guide covers the routine.

At Your Place or Ours

We will wash the car at your home or office anywhere across Hunterdon and Somerset County, or you can drop it at our studio at 17 Jockey Ln in Flemington. Call (908) 489-6699 or book online, and tell us the vehicle and when it was last properly washed.

Common Questions: Premium Hand Car Wash

How much does a car wash cost?

A standard hand wash and decontamination starts at $125. With a hand wax it is $200, and with machine polishing it starts at $300. Anything beyond that is paint correction, which starts at $150 and is quoted after we see the paint.

Why does this cost more than the tunnel down the road?

Because it is a different job. A tunnel wash is a few minutes of spinning brushes and strong detergent. This is a hand wash with clean media, decontamination of what has bonded to the paint, and products chosen not to strip your protection. One is fast, the other keeps your paint worth looking at.

Do automatic car washes really scratch paint?

Yes. The brushes and cloth strips hold grit from the cars before yours and drag it across your panels, and the same happens when a car is wiped down with a rag that has been used all day. That is where the swirl marks you see in direct sunlight come from.

What is decontamination?

Washing removes loose dirt. Decontamination removes what has bonded to the surface, such as industrial fallout, brake dust and road film. It is what makes the paint feel smooth rather than gritty, and it is required before any wax, polish or coating will bond properly.

Do you come to me or do I come to you?

Either. We can wash the car at your home or office, or you can drop it at our studio at 17 Jockey Ln in Flemington.

Can you wash a car that already has a ceramic coating?

Yes, and it is the right way to maintain one. Coated paint still needs washing, just without the harsh chemicals and brushes that shorten the life of the coating.

Should I get a wash, a wax or paint correction?

If the paint is in good shape and you want it clean and protected, a wash with a hand wax covers it. If it looks dull, a polish adds gloss. If you can see swirl marks and scratches in sunlight, that is paint correction, which removes them rather than hiding them.
